Sheri's Healing Flower Garden

Not good at telling stories... I enjoy this lady's special photos taken mainly around her home and her commentary to go with it. Hope you might enjoy them too.

Your stories please

Come on tell us yours ! I am just making a list for later: Climbing up those scoria cones and wondering how the bikes fall without killing somebody; the edge of the elephant ;bureaucracy building on buck passing over branches ;the cool wind of bats wings; meningitis undiagnosed ;a close shave;where to find wildlife- long tails and short ones ;classroom kids talk;

Tough Stony Rise characters

Story below reminds me of some tough people who live in rural areas. If ever I feel ungrateful for the place I live, I only need to think of how hard it can be to make a living out on "The Stones" just west of here. And also how good it is to share with those who have little, because they love to share .
The lava flowed and the ash fell only a few thousand years ago.(much more lava than ash unfortunately !) Despite reasonable rainfall, the higher parts of the landscape have next to no soil and very little of any depth growing on them . Sure you can, like most country, think its God's best ever in the spring, but thinking about that tight growing season on rocks is more than I can bear, especially when most of what grows can be thistles . Oh they are fun .They bulldoze em out now with the biggest bulldozers ever ( another story another time)

I am going to put a picture of one of the houses in here one day soon . Believe me the structures in the picture can explain a lot; it can not only explain why the farmer wants a wife , but also why some farmers never get one.

I have had some lovely cups of tea out there, you know , but never quite like this one . Sis was out there visiting from the city at the time.
Tea was lovely as can be,.. as was the hospital..ity.
She was now calm but ...keen to tell me of her shock ,
The shock she got from simply... filling up the pot.

The water was outside you see, and she'd forgot just where .
She' didn't care, she didn't say, until she'd drunk the lot ,
but to this day i think you'll find
tis from the drinking trough.( cows that is )

Tis true --another later - now where's yours!

Coldwater cleaning

This single bloke never washed his dishes. You know the kind . These busy "farmer needs a wife" sorts are everwhere around ere.
I knew these blokes can do it tough, but I wasn't lookin forward to the visit. Untidyness I can cope with . But I had heard from others that , when did do the dishes, he did em with coldwater .
Looking everywhere for tell tale signs , it seemed my plate was clean enough .Shiny, infact .
After finishing off a feast of sweet smelling stew , I was feeling quite satisfied until he called out to the dog .
"Cum ere Coldwater" .he said " an have some! ........Thanks Geoff
